JESSICA ADKINS

Jessica obtained a dual certification master’s as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the University of South Alabama in 2006 and in March of 2018 with a doctorate of Nursing Practice, with an emphasis on diabetes. She has over 15 years experience as a nurse practitioner in both private practice and in a hospital-based clinic, with the majority of that time spent in diabetes. She lives her “real life diabetes” journey as a provider, a mom of a Type 1, and as a patient with diabetes in adulthood. She is a busy mom of 4 boys who understands just how important it is to find a place for diabetes in life and continue to live it to its fullest. She is a member of the ADCES and NAPNAP and is a part of the Gvoke Speaker Bureau.
KRIS BRITT

Kris graduated with a music education degree in 2006 but this husband and father of four changed careers when his oldest son, Carter, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes shortly after his sixth birthday. He graduated from nursing school in 2014 and immediately began working as an ER nurse, with the ultimate goal of transitioning to pediatric diabetes. In 2016 Kris made that transition and has served as a diabetes care and education specialist ever since. His passion for people and education, alongside a strong desire to help patients and families navigate the often choppy waters of diabetes, drives him each and every day. Kris is a member of the ADCES, has served on the ACDES professional practice committee, & is co-founder of T1D Revolution, a module-based approach to spreading diabetes education to the masses.
TERESA CORBITT
FRONT OFFICE MANAGER
Born and raised in Southeast Georgia, Teresa has a passion for serving others. She has climbed her career ladder through the ranks of the business world and has over thirty years of experience in finance, insurance, customer service, operations, team leadership, office coordination and management. Teresa is the primary point of contact for the EDC front office and is dedicated to delivering a world-class experience to patients, prospective patients, healthcare providers, and the broader diabetes community, starting from their very first interaction.
MALISSIA GONZALEZ
Nurse Practitioner

Malissia is a Family Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about both physical and mental health. She believes in providing patients with the tools they need to be successful in their wellness journey. She began her nursing career in 2017 at Candler Hospital’s ICU. There she saw firsthand the community’s dire need for consistent and compassionate primary care, especially for patients with diabetes. With the community’s needs in mind, she returned to Georgia Southern University to pursue her Master of Science in Nursing and graduated in 2023 as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Malissia is originally from Effingham County, Georgia. She is a wife and mother of twins and their family’s two dogs, Hanner and Gus. She enjoys eating good food, playing outside, and volunteering at her church.

Medical Assistant
Abie, a Colorado native, relocated to Savannah, GA in 2020 following her husband's assignment to Hunter Army Airfield. With a diverse professional background in healthcare and business management she concurrently oversees a boutique-style ultrasound practice and serves as Medical Assistant at EDC. Abie was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 5. Her unwavering resilience and determination have been the driving forces behind her involvement in the EDC diabetes community. Combining her firsthand experiences as an EDC patient with her former healthcare roles, Abie spends her day nurturing connections among patients who, much like herself, navigate the intricacies of diabetes on a daily basis.
KRISTEN MCMILLAN

Kristen is a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant with a deeply personal connection to diabetes. Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 11, her personal experience and struggle alike ignited a deep passion for both people and their health. With 15 years of experience in the medical field, Kristen has gained a wealth of diverse experience in healthcare settings like Pharmacy, Cancer care, Dialysis, and Internal Medicine. Outside of her career, Kristen enjoys exploring new horizons through her love for travel, while cherishing moments spent with her wonderful family.
BRENNA MUDGE
FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST
Brenna is a writer and visual storytelling artist based in Savannah, GA. She spent four years studying Sequential Art at Savannah College of Art and Design. After 2016 she went back to school at Armstrong State University (now Georgia Southern University) and received her BFA in Visual Arts in 2019. Endeavoring to love and serve others is the underlying goal for whatever she pursues. In her spare time she enjoys trying new recipes, writing, drawing, and spending time with her husband and chowski.

Kristen, a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist, has lived with type 1 diabetes for over two decades. Despite initially resisting anything diabetes-related, her journey with diabetes has provided the motivation to pursue a career in healthcare and has led to a thriving life with diabetes. She holds a Master's degree in Dietetics and has worked in various dietitian roles. Her most cherished role involves planning conferences and creating content for Children with Diabetes. Now, at Everyday Diabetes Center she is offering nutrition counseling on navigating food and the ups and downs of life (and blood sugars). She is excited to meet with you face to face (or computer screen to computer screen) to provide encouragement and support.
JOANNE RINKER
DIETITIAN
MS, RDN, BC-ADM, CDCES, LDN, FADCES
Joanne is an accomplished dietitian with over two decades of experience. She's a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist who achieved BC-ADM in 2022. Joanne played a key role in building the largest ADA-recognized site in the nation while coordinating the North Carolina Diabetes Education Recognition Program. She was honored as the 2013 AADE Diabetes Educator of the Year and served on the ADCES Board of Directors. She later became the Senior Director of Practice, Content, and Learning at ADCES. Currently, Joanne is the Associate Director of Medical Education at Mannkind Corp. Additionally, she provides virtual medical nutrition therapy at Everyday Diabetes Center, helping clients achieve their health goals.
EDC is supported by an M.D. who helps to coordinate care in day-to-day operations. We also have a consulting endocrinologist who serves our patients on an as-needed basis.
